Viking bag handles made of dark oak

These oak bag handles are based on archaeological finds from important Viking Age sites such as Haithabu, Birka and Viborg. They are suitable for replicating authentic hanging bags and similar pouch bags, which were common in everyday life in the early Middle Ages. The dark colour is achieved by dipping the wood in sal ammoniac – a traditional process that gives the wood a characteristic deep tone without the use of stain or artificial colour.

The hangers are made in Germany from oak – one of the most durable native woods. The surface is carefully finished, oiled and shows the natural grain of the oak. Each piece is a natural product: the grain, structure and colour depth vary slightly from pair to pair. This makes each hanger a small, unique piece of craftsmanship. The pre-made slots and hole make it much easier to attach to straps or leather.

The brackets are suitable for Viking re-enactments, medieval market appearances or LARP settings. If you value historical accuracy, you will find a functional accessory here.
