Description
Viking bag handles Birka 27 cm – made of oak wood, manufactured in Germany
These bag handles are based on archaeological finds from Birka and Haithabu. Such handles originally served as a supporting element for hanging bags that were attached to belts or clothing – a characteristic accessory of everyday Viking life. If you want to design your clothing authentically, you will find a solid starting material for your own bag construction here.
The hangers are made in Germany from solid oak. The wood is oiled and has the typical light to slightly yellow-brown colouring of fresh oak. The workmanship is clean: the slots for the bag flap are evenly cut, and the hole for the fastening cord or metal ring is centred. This makes the brackets a practical cut for DIY enthusiasts. Such raw parts, which can be crafted by hand, are particularly valued for re-enactment and LARP events, where comfort and appearance are equally important.
One pair, i.e. two brackets, is supplied. The size is suitable for medium to large hanging bags and allows enough leeway for different bag cuts and strap widths.
