Late Medieval Iron Hat

This late medieval Burgundy iron hat is a detailed replica of a helmet from the 15th century, based on historical originals such as one from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The simple but distinctive design with its fluted bell and wide brim makes this helmet unmistakable. The brim provided effective protection against sword blows from above as well as arrows or other projectiles without restricting vision, hearing, or breathing – wonderful for foot soldiers, archers, and pikemen in the High and Late Middle Ages.
The medieval iron hat is made of 1.6 mm (0.06 in) thick steel and offers high wearing comfort with an adjustable, riveted leather inlay and a chin strap made of sturdy 3 mm (0.12 in) leather with an antique brass clasp. The blackened interior finish gives the helmet a particularly authentic look. It is also an attractive addition to any helmet collection.
