German Pappenheimer Rapier

This specimen is a German rapier that can be attributed to the 17th century.

Because of its typical design of the hilt, this rapier is also called Pappenheimer. It was named after the imperial commander of the 30-year war, Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim. These rapiers enjoyed great popularity in the famous cuirassier regiment of the imperial commander.

The rapier comes together with the pictured scabbard made of wood with leather wrapping and steel fittings.
