Description

Gothic plate armor 15th - 16th century, breast and back armor with leg pockets, 1.2 mm (0.05 in) steel.

This elaborate plate armor consists of a breastplate, a backplate and two leg pockets. It was made of 1.2 mm (0.05 in) steel.

The chest piece, which serves to protect the hips, waist, groin and abdomen, was made from 3 slid abdominal hoops. The beautiful back armor is completed by a wide flared culet, which consists of two wavy plates that also overlap and thus protect the buttocks as well.

Both parts (breastplate and backplate) are attached to each other with 3 mm (0.12 in) thick adjustable leather straps with steel buckles. The straps and buckles are riveted at shoulder level and to the sides of the chest plate and back plate.

The two leg pockets also attach to the underbelly hoop with the riveted leather straps and buckles.
