The so-called Beckenhaube (also called Kesselhaube or Bascinet) developed in the early 14th century from the brain hood and was widespread throughout Central Europe until the 15th century.

This helmet offered here is a reconstruction - inspired by the helmet seen at Bannockburn on the famous bronze statue of Robert I of Scotland (1274-1329). After years of fighting against the forces of the English Crown, King Robert (also known as Bruce or Robert the Bruce) led his Scots to victory over the army of Edward II of England at Bannockburn in 1314 - a turning point that eventually led to an armistice and later culminated in Scottish independence. Even today, Robert the Bruce is considered the great liberator of Scotland.

The helmet is made of 1.6mm (0.06 in) steel and features a detailed brass crown. The shoulder-length chain mail is braided in the classic 4-in-1 pattern and consists of unriveted rings that are approximately 1.6 mm (0.06 in) thick. The chain rings have a diameter of about 9 mm (0.35 in). The brunette is attached to the lower edge of the helmet with so-called "vervelles" (protruding, small rivets or anchor points with holes) and can be removed at will.

A thin, size-adjustable inlay made of leather is incorporated into the inside of the helmet. In addition, the helmet has a chin strap made of 3 mm (0.12 in) thick leather and ensures a tight fit on the head.

The helmet is suitable for light show fighting, however, it should not be used for heavy show Fighting.
