Hand-woven blanket

This unique piece is made from 100% hand-spun wool from sheep. Due to the great effort involved, such blankets are rarely made by hand nowadays. However, they are good replicas of the blankets from the Middle Ages. The blankets are never made from a single piece, but consist of two to three hand-sewn parts. This is due to the size of the loom (70 cm wide per loom).
The wool comes from the company's own mountain sheep, which are kept on the production farm in the Maramures mountains. It is washed exclusively in spring water, which means that the blankets contain plenty of valuable lanolin (fat). This makes the blankets highly resistant to dirt and almost waterproof. The wool is left in its natural color, unless the blanket is to have colored stripes.
Thanks to their dense weave, heavy quality and natural wool grease, these blankets are very heat-insulating and offer good protection even in rain showers. They are therefore ideal for any camp!

The blankets are made for us by a family business in the Maramures Mountains, which has been traditionally making these blankets by hand for generations.
