Large helmet Pembridge, 1.2 mm or 2 mm steel

Sir Richard Pembridge was one of the first knights to be admitted to the Garter Order "The Most Noble Order of the Garter". This order is the most exclusive in England and one of the most prestigious in Europe. In the British honor system, this order is surpassed only by the Victoria Cross and the George Cross.

This helmet is a replica of a found piece whose owner was Sir Richard Pembridge. The original piece was made around 1370 and is now on display in the Royal Scottish Museum in Edinburgh.

Helmets of this type were often worn over smaller helmets (brain hoods). They found use throughout Europe and there are numerous contemporary illustrations and many finds from Germany, Flanders, England, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc., which attest to this type of helmet. These helmets were used in the battle of Crécy (1346) and Poitiers (1356), among others.

The helmet offered is made of 1.2 mm (0.047 inches) thick steel and polished for a shiny look. Inside the helmet is a size-adjustable leather inlay, which increases comfort. There is also a leather chin strap with a matching buckle to ensure a snug fit on the head.
