Leather has a long history as protection for legs and shins – from medieval warriors and archers to travellers battling their way through inhospitable terrain. These leg guards made from vegetable-tanned buffalo leather draw on this tradition and bring it into the context of LARP, re-enactment and medieval markets. The robust oiled leather combines a rustic look with practical utility.

The pull-up leather used has a special property: over time, it develops a unique patina. Small scratches and signs of wear stand out lightly on the surface, creating a natural worn look that gives each pair its own character. If the effect becomes too pronounced, the leather can simply be re-oiled – keeping the surface well-maintained and supple. The lacing on the sides allows for flexible adjustment to different leg shapes, ensuring the greaves sit securely without pinching. The simple, timeless design fits into many character concepts: ranger, Viking, craftsman, pirate – the greaves look harmonious in a wide variety of outfits.

The greaves are from Battle-Merchant’s “Drunter und Drüber” collection – a line designed for characters who operate in secret. Lightweight materials, layered looks and the characteristic worn-in look are at the heart of this collection. As leather is a natural product, colour and grain vary slightly from piece to piece – no two pairs are exactly alike.
