Description
Medieval cauldron helmet or iron hat
The kettle helmet is a type of helmet from the High Middle Ages that was worn by knights and heavily armored warriors from the 12th century onwards. Its cylindrical design with a flat or slightly domed top provided excellent protection against slashes and cuts, while the narrow eye slits allowed for limited but effective vision.
Made of hardened steel, the kettle helmet was characterized by its robust construction, which made it particularly resistant to lance thrusts and sword blows. It was often worn over a chain mail hood for added comfort and protection.
This impressive piece of medieval armor is wonderful for historical reenactments, collectors or medieval warfare enthusiasts and brings the fascinating world of the age of chivalry impressively closer.
