Medieval dress "Tyra" – washed green with a distressed look
The Tyra dress is part of the “Drunter und Drüber” collection – a range aimed at foresters, rangers, archers and adventurers seeking authentic medieval attire with a touch of living history. The name Tyra has a Nordic ring to it, and indeed the simple, floor-length dress is reminiscent of early medieval women’s garments as worn in Scandinavia and Central Europe between the 8th and 12th centuries.
The dress is made from lightweight twill fabric (100% cotton), which feels pleasant against the skin and is comfortable to wear even during long market days or multi-day LARP events. The piece-dyed finish gives the fabric a subtle worn look – as if the dress had already survived many journeys. No two pieces look exactly alike, which gives the dress a natural, individual character.
In terms of cut, Tyra is based on historical models: geren (trapezoidal fabric triangles) inserted at the centre ensure a generous hem width that allows for free movement. Darts at the bust provide a comfortable fit. The simple round neckline is slit in the centre – a feature typical of early medieval dresses. You can leave the slit open or close it with a brooch, further enhancing your look. The dress is suitable both as an outer garment and as an underdress, and can be easily incorporated into layered looks.
