33rd Wolkenstein Castle Festival 2026 – A traditional festival in the Ore Mountains
From 14 to 17 May 2026, Wolkenstein Castle in the Ore Mountains, Saxony, will celebrate its legendary castle festival for the 33rd time. The imposing castle, perched high above the Zschopau Valley, offers four days of medieval festivities over the Ascension Day holiday.
Wolkenstein Castle – A fortified stronghold in the Ore Mountains
Wolkenstein Castle on Schlossplatz is perched on a steep rocky outcrop above the Zschopau. The striking 12th-century castle is the landmark of the mountain town of Wolkenstein and offers a breathtaking view over the wooded valley.
Programme and attractions
The castle festival offers a four-day programme: jousting tournaments, medieval music, juggling, fire shows and craft demonstrations. Historical goods and Ore Mountains specialities are on sale at numerous market stalls. For children, there are jousting games and hands-on activities.

Thursday from 10 am, Friday from 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am. Admission Thu: Adults €7 / Concessions €5. Fri–Sun: Adults €10, Costumed visitors €8, Concessions €6, Family ticket €25.
