About Fête Médiévale de Semur-en-Auxois
Three days of the Middle Ages in the medieval Burgundian town
From 8 to 10 May 2026, the town of Semur-en-Auxois in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté will host its Medieval Festival, a popular event that transforms the historic centre of this Burgundian town into a lively medieval village. Semur-en-Auxois, with its round towers, 14th-century ramparts and cobbled streets, provides an exceptional setting for this historical event.
For three days, knights, jugglers, falconers, craftsmen and actors parade through the picturesque streets of the old town. The programme includes medieval combat, falconry demonstrations, family entertainment and street performances. Artisans showcase their traditional crafts – blacksmiths, weavers, illuminators – in stalls decorated in medieval style. The medieval banquet, available by reservation for around €25, is the highlight of the weekend: music, period cuisine and a festive atmosphere within the ramparts.
Entry to the events in the historic centre is completely free, making it a festival accessible to all. Only the medieval banquet requires payment and must be booked in advance.
