  North Ayrshire\, Scotland hosts the annual Largs Viking Festival. Since 19
 80\, this beloved community event has commemorated the Battle of Largs of 1
 263\, in which the Scots under Alexander III repelled a Norwegian fleet und
 er King H&aring\;kon IV &ndash\; an encounter that effectively ended Norse 
 influence over the Scottish islands.\nThe ten-day festival is one of Scotla
 nd&rsquo\;s most distinctive celebrations\, blending Scandinavian heritage 
 with Scottish community spirit. Highlights include a Viking village along t
 he Largs seafront with Norse craftspeople\, traders and warriors in period 
 dress\; the dramatic longship burning ceremony &ndash\; one of the most spe
 ctacular sights on the Scottish events calendar\; fire shows\, battle re-en
 actments\, Viking sports competitions and craft workshops. The festival cul
 minates in an impressive torchlit parade and ceremonial burning of a replic
