5th Medieval Festival at Penkun Castle 2026 – Time travel on the equinox
Just in time for the equinox, Penkun Castle in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will be celebrating its 5th Medieval Festival from 20 to 22 March 2026. For three days, the impressive 13th-century castle in the far south of Western Pomerania will be the setting for a lively journey into the past.
Date and opening hours
The festival opens on Friday, 20 March, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Saturday, 21 March, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, 22 March, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Programme and highlights
Highlights include an encounter with the impressive dragon Faffmir, live music from Rabenzauber and Duo Obscurum, and spectacular infinity fire shows from Stuttgart – which traditionally celebrate their season premiere in Penkun. Stately knights demonstrate their skills, jugglers provide entertainment, and archers can test their skills with historical bows in the archery tournament.
Merchants offer rare and artistic goods for sale. Taverns and roast houses provide hearty food and mead for your physical well-being. A special highlight are the guided tours of the historic castle, where curiosities and hidden treasures can be discovered.
Admission and directions
Adults €10, weekend ticket €15. Children aged 0–14 have free admission. Penkun Castle is located in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald near the Polish border and is easily accessible by car. Free parking is available.
