About ANNO 1238 to Telgte

ANNO 1238 in Telgte

Telgte is a town in North Rhine-Westphalia with a medieval history. From 7 to 9 August 2026, ANNO 1238 in Telgte will take place – a major medieval event focusing on the year 1238 and bringing the history of that time and place to life.

Planwiese / Dümmert Park, Kardinal-von-Galen-Platz 19, 48291 Telgte – this is a spacious park, perfect for a major event with hundreds of visitors and stalls.

Opening hours: Friday 4pm–10pm, Saturday 1pm–10pm, Sunday 11am–7pm. This is a non-stop weekend event.

Admission: Adults €15, children up to 14 years €8, children shorter than a sword’s length (120 cm) get free entry. The organisers support families and honour the rule that small children go free.

ANNO 1238 focuses on authenticity and history: the year has been deliberately chosen, and the organisers have conducted historical research to tailor the festival to the year 1238. This means costumes, weapons, crafts and music from that era.

The event is huge: hundreds of re-enactors, craftspeople and artists are in attendance. There are battle scenes, music and theatre performances. Visitors can wander around, watch, shop and eat.

Telgte itself is a charming town with a tradition of pilgrimage – there are hotels, restaurants and museums. The surrounding area is green and hilly, ideal for walks. A weekend here combines history with culture and nature.

This is one of the major medieval events in Germany – anyone wishing to experience genuine re-enactment and authentic history should visit ANNO 1238.
