About Battle of Evesham Medieval Festival
Re-enacting the Battle of Evesham 1265 on the historic battlefield
On 1. bis 2. August 2026, the meadows of Crown Meadow in Evesham, Worcestershire become a medieval battlefield once more at the Battle of Evesham Medieval Festival. The Battle of Evesham, fought on 4 August 1265, was a decisive engagement of the Second Barons’ War in which King Henry III’s forces defeated and killed Simon de Montfort, Earl of Leicester – widely regarded as one of the founders of the English Parliament.
Hundreds of re-enactors from across the UK and Europe don armour and period costume to bring this pivotal historical encounter back to life in dramatic fashion. The recreation of the battle itself is the event’s centrepiece, supported by a full living history programme: armoured combat demonstrations, archery displays, medieval siege machinery, craftspeople, food vendors and an atmospheric encampment. The event draws families, history enthusiasts and school groups, and all admission is entirely free of charge.
