Berlepscher Knight Tournament 2026 – Jousting at the fairytale Berlepsch Castle
On 18 and 19 April 2026, Berlepsch Castle near Witzenhausen in Hesse will host a grand knights' tournament. The Berlepsch Knights' Tournament combines spectacular jousting with an atmospheric medieval market in one of the most romantic castle complexes in northern Hesse.
Berlepsch Castle – a jewel in the Werra Valley
Berlepsch Castle has been owned by the noble family of the same name for over 650 years – one of the few castles in Germany that has been continuously inhabited by the same family. The picturesque complex with its towers, bay windows and extensive castle grounds is nestled in the green hills of the Werra Valley and provides a breathtaking backdrop for the tournament.
Knights' tournament and market bustle
The highlight is the grand knight tournament on horseback, in which armoured riders in full armour compete against each other with lances. There are also exhibition fights on foot, juggling, fire shows and medieval music. Around the tournament grounds, merchants and craftsmen invite visitors to browse and marvel. Children can practise sword fighting and be knighted.
