The Düdelingen Buergfest – 90 traders in the heart of Luxembourg
On 12 and 13 September 2026, the town of Düdelingen in the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg will celebrate its traditional Butschebuerger Buergfest. This popular medieval market, one of the liveliest in the Grand Duchy, transforms the town centre into a vast historical festival scene.
With over 90 traders and craftspeople, the Buergfest is renowned for the abundance of its stalls and the diversity of its offerings: jewellery, leather goods, ceramics, spices, medieval textiles and local produce. Historical re-enactment groups bring the streets to life with battles, costumed parades, dances and music. On Saturday, from 11am to midnight, there is a lively programme including evening festivities; Sunday, from 10am to 7pm, is more family-oriented.
