Kriebstein Castle Festival 2026 – Medieval festivities at Saxony’s fairytale castle
From 14 to 17 May 2026, Kriebstein Castle in Saxony will be celebrating its traditional castle festival. Known as ‘Saxony’s most beautiful knight’s castle’, the site offers four days of medieval festivities high above the River Zschopau over the Ascension holiday.

Kriebstein Castle rises spectacularly on a steep rock above the Zschopau valley. The Gothic castle complex, with its striking residential tower and winding courtyards, is one of the best-preserved late medieval castles in central Germany.
Programme and attractions
The castle festival offers a varied programme: jousting tournaments, craft demonstrations, juggling and medieval music. Historical goods are on sale at numerous market stalls. For children, there are jousting games and hands-on activities. Mead and hearty food are available to keep visitors well fed.
Opening times and admission
The castle festival is open Thursday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Admission: Adults €12, costumed visitors €8, concessions €6, family ticket €30. Children under 7 free.
