Historic Easter Market at Ronneburg Castle 2026 – Season opener at the medieval castle complex in Hesse
The proud Ronneburg Castle rises high above the valley – and just in time for spring, the Middle Ages come back to life within its ancient walls. On 28 and 29 March 2026, the popular Historical Easter Market in Ronneburg, Hesse, will open its doors as the first major market of the season. For many years now, this spring festival has marked the start of the event year at the imposing high medieval castle complex.
Market life and attractions
Every corner of the castle comes to life: a large crowd of merchants and craftsmen from almost extinct guilds offer exquisite goods, handicrafts and delicacies for sale. Cupbearers and master chefs spoil the palate with medieval delicacies. The smell of freshly roasted meat and spices fills the air, while minstrels and jugglers fill the castle courtyard with music and entertainment.
There is a varied programme for families: archery, sword fighting demonstrations, wheel of fortune, ring toss, fire shows, storytellers and much more provide entertainment for young and old alike. The popular children's craft programme with medieval motifs is also part of the regular repertoire.
Opening hours and admission
The Easter market is open on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is £10 for adults, £7 for children aged 6 to 13, £8 for concessions (schoolchildren, students, disabled persons) and £7 for those in historical costume. A family ticket with one child costs £26, with two children £32. Parking costs £3.
