About Palio of Ferrara
Palio di Ferrara 2026 – Renaissance parade in Piazza Ariostea
On 30 May 2026, Ferrara (Emilia-Romagna) – a Renaissance city and UNESCO World Heritage Site – will relive its Este history with the Palio di Ferrara. The day will be marked by two major events: the morning will be dedicated to a grand historical Renaissance parade with participants dressed in 15th- and 16th-century Este costumes; in the afternoon, the horse race will take place in Piazza Ariostea, the large 16th-century octagonal square in the centre of the city.
Eight city districts compete for the Palio: each district brings its colours, its godfathers, its flag-wavers and its horse. The anticipation is charged with cheering and passion in the spirit of ancient medieval rivalries. Admission to the square is free, while the stands are subject to a fee for those who want a privileged view of the race.
Free admission to the square; stands subject to a fee.
Location:
Piazza Ariostea, 44121 Ferrara (FE).
