Whitsun Spectacular in Mülheim an der Ruhr 2026 – The Middle Ages at Broich Castle
From 23 to 25 May 2026, the Whitsun Spectacle will take place at Broich Castle in Mülheim an der Ruhr, North Rhine-Westphalia. Over the Whitsun period, the historic castle at Am Schloss Broich 28 will become the setting for a medieval market.
Broich Castle – Oldest fortress north of the Alps
Broich Castle is considered one of the oldest surviving fortifications north of the Alps. The Carolingian castle complex from the 9th century is picturesquely situated on the River Ruhr and, with its historic walls and inner courtyard, provides an impressive backdrop.
Programme and attractions
The Whitsun Spectacle offers a varied programme: jousting tournaments, exhibition fights, juggling, fire shows and medieval music. Numerous traders and craftsmen will be showcasing their skills. For children, there are hands-on activities and knightly games.

Opening hours: Saturday 1 pm–10 pm, Sunday 11 am–10 pm, Monday 11 am–7 pm. Admission: Adults €16, Concessions €15, Children €8, Family ticket €40.
