About Quondam – Relive the Middle Ages
<h2>Quondam 2026 – Experience the Middle Ages at Gaasbeek Castle</h2>
<p><strong>Quondam</strong> (Latin for ‘once upon a time’) is a two-day medieval spectacle taking place on <strong>26 and 27 September 2026</strong> at Gaasbeek Castle and the adjacent Groenenberg estate in Vlezenbeek (Belgium). Hundreds of re-enactors from 12 countries will be taking part.</p>
<h3>Programme</h3>
<p>The programme includes <strong>jousting (lance-fighting on horseback), archery, sword-fighting tournaments</strong> and, every day, the great battle “<strong>Siege of Gaasbeek</strong>”. On Saturday evening, the site transforms into the <strong>Nocturne</strong> with lighting, fire displays and a spectacular fire show (9.30 pm).</p>
<p>In the camp, participants live and sleep in medieval tents. More than <strong>40 medieval traders</strong>, taverns, a <strong>craft village</strong> and the <strong>school programme</strong> invite everyone to join in – for young and old alike.</p>
