Knights, jugglers and history at Kufstein Fortress over Whitsun
From 22 to 25 May 2026 (Whitsun), Kufstein Fortress in Tyrol opens its gates for the Kufstein Knights’ Festival – a four-day medieval spectacle high above the rooftops of the imperial town of the same name on the River Inn. Kufstein Fortress, one of Austria’s best-preserved fortifications, is perched on a rocky outcrop directly above the old town and offers a breathtaking view of the Kaiser Mountains.
From Friday to Monday, knights in full armour, jugglers, musicians and traders will fill the fortress courtyards and galleries. The programme includes exhibition fights with historical weapons, fire shows on the fortress walls, a medieval market with arts and crafts and specialities, as well as demonstrations of historical crafts. For families, there are hands-on activities for children, including archery and jousting. In the evenings, the tavern and concerts invite visitors to linger.
Admission to the Knights’ Festival is included in the price of the fortress tour; current rates are available on the Kufstein Fortress website. Open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 (last day until 17:00).
