Sturm auf Zons 2026 – Medieval Market at the Zons Fortress on the Rhine
On 30 and 31 May 2026, the Storm on Zons will take place in Dormagen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The almost completely preserved medieval fortifications of Zons, situated along the historic city walls, provide a unique backdrop for the medieval festival.
Zons – The "Rothenburg of the Rhine"
Zons, a district of Dormagen, is also known as the “Rothenburg of the Rhine” due to its almost completely preserved medieval city walls. The Zons customs fortress was built in the 14th century and is one of the best-preserved fortifications on the Lower Rhine.
Programme and attractions
Within the historic city walls, a colourful medieval market scene unfolds, featuring traders, craftsmen and jugglers. Knightly tournaments, medieval music and fire shows provide entertainment. The authentic setting of the medieval town makes the ‘Storming of Zons’ a special experience.
