About Arboga Medeltid
Knights’ tournaments and a medieval market in Arboga – the country’s oldest town
From 5 to 8 August 2026, Arboga Medieval Festival will be held in Västmanland – one of the most authentic medieval events in central Sweden. Arboga, one of Sweden’s most important medieval towns, was the site of the first Swedish Riksdag in 1435. This history lives on in the well-preserved town centre with its Gothic churches, medieval houses and cobbled streets.
For four days, the town centre is filled with knights, merchants and craftsmen in historical costume. Jousting tournaments featuring sword fights and knightly games take place in the square, a large medieval market spreads out along the streets, and musicians and street performers entertain the crowds. Guided walks take you through Arboga’s rich medieval history and tell the story of the Riksdag and the great figures who shaped this town. The event is family-friendly with activities for children.
More information about the programme and tickets is available on the official website.
