About Feira Medieval de Silves
Silves Medieval Fair 2026
From 8 to 16 August 2026, the southern Portuguese town of Silves will be transformed into a medieval market square. The event in the Centro Histórico opens in the evenings from 6 pm to 1 am – an unusual time slot that emphasises the night-time hustle and bustle of the medieval setting. Admission is €2; visitors with a cup pay €4.
Silves is home to the famous Castelo de Silves, an 11th-century red sandstone fortress. The castle dominates the townscape and serves as an impressive backdrop for medieval events. The fair runs for nine days, allowing for numerous visits and guaranteeing local craftspeople a longer-term audience.
The Faro region in southern Portugal is renowned for its beaches and mild climate. A medieval event in the height of summer is therefore part of a wider holiday experience. The combination of the fortress, the old town and the nightlife makes Silves a special venue for medieval enthusiasts.
