The 150th Giostra del Saracino – Arezzo’s anniversary edition
On 6 September 2026, Arezzo will celebrate a historic milestone: the 150th edition of the Giostra del Saracino. Piazza Grande, with its medieval towers, Vasari loggias and the cathedral towering above, will once again be transformed into an open-air theatre for Italy’s most famous equestrian tournament.
From the afternoon procession, which sets off at 5 pm, the 700 costumed participants in 14th-century attire parade in a spectacle of colours and sounds. Four districts, eight knights and a single Golden Pegasus: the competition is fiercely contested in this special edition. Each district is supported by its own godfathers and godmothers, flag-wavers and drummers, who contribute to the joust’s unique atmosphere.
The 150th edition promises special celebrations to mark the anniversary, with side events, exhibitions and cultural events in the days leading up to the joust.
