Oettingen Historical Market 2026 – A Grand Medieval Festival in the Ries
From 15 to 17 May 2026, Schlossstrasse in Oettingen, Bavaria (Donau-Ries district), will be transformed into a historic market square. The Oettingen Historical Market is one of Bavaria’s largest medieval events and attracts visitors from all over southern Germany.
Oettingen – Royal Seat in the Ries
Oettingen lies on the edge of the Noerdlinger Ries, a meteorite crater, and captivates visitors with its historic old town featuring half-timbered houses and the princely castle. Schlossstrasse, with its Baroque architecture, provides an atmospheric backdrop.
Programme and attractions
The Historical Market offers a packed programme: jousting tournaments, exhibition fights, medieval music, juggling and fire shows. Numerous craftsmen and traders showcase their skills at over 100 stalls. For children, there are knightly games and hands-on activities.
