About Kinderzeche Dinkelsbühl
Dinkelsbühl Children’s Festival 2026 – A historic town festival in the Pearl of Franconia
From 17 to 26 July 2026, Dinkelsbühl, Bavaria, will be celebrating the traditional Kinderzeche. For ten days, the historic old town at Bauhofstrasse 43 in 91550 Dinkelsbühl will be transformed into a lively journey through time – one of Germany’s oldest children’s festivals.
Dinkelsbühl – Franconia’s best-preserved old town
Dinkelsbühl on the Romantic Road is considered one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Germany. The fully enclosed town walls, the half-timbered houses and St. George’s Cathedral form a unique historical backdrop.
Programme and attractions
The Kinderzeche commemorates the siege of the town during the Thirty Years’ War, when children saved the town through their pleas. The festival features historical parades, theatre performances, the Kinderzeche play, a medieval market and music. The entire old town becomes a stage.
