About Lödöse Medieval Market
Historic medieval market at the Lödöse Museum
In May 2026, the Lödöse Medieval Market will be held at the Lödöse Museum in Västra Götaland – one of western Sweden's most popular historical events. During the Middle Ages, Lödöse was an important trading town and the first town in Sweden to receive city privileges, and the Lödöse Museum tells this story through exquisite finds from the town's golden age.
During the market days, the medieval era comes to life along the riverbank in an atmosphere of trade, craftsmanship and festivity. Craftsmen from all over Sweden set up their stalls with ceramics, ironwork, leather, woven fabrics and historical objects. Entertainers and storytellers animate the audience with juggling, fire art and historical songs. Food stalls offer medieval-inspired dishes and drinks. The museum itself offers guided tours and archaeological demonstrations that illustrate life in medieval Lödöse.
More information about the programme and tickets is available on the museum's website.
