France’s biggest medieval festival – 41st edition in Provins
On 13 and 14 June 2026, the medieval town of Provins (Seine-et-Marne), a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, will host the 41st edition of the Médiévales de Provins. Renowned as France’s largest medieval festival, it brings to life the atmosphere of the legendary Champagne Fairs of the 12th and 13th centuries.
For two days, troubadours, street performers, jugglers, craftsmen and entertainers take over the town’s cobbled streets, ramparts and historic squares. On the programme: medieval dances and music, tournaments and jousts, period games, street performances, as well as the festival’s classic highlights: a medieval ball on the Place du Châtel, a grand medieval concert on Saturday evening, and the unmissable Sunday parade featuring 700 people in period costume.
The medieval town of Provins also boasts treasures to explore all year round: the César Tower, the ramparts, the underground galleries and the royal stables. During the Médiévales, the whole town becomes an open-air stage, with plenty to delight even the youngest history buffs.
