About Plankenstein Castle Medieval Festival
Four days of medieval history at one of Lower Austria's most beautiful castles
From 14 to 17 May 2026, Plankenstein Castle in Texingtal, Lower Austria, will host its annual medieval festival. The imposing hilltop castle, which looks back on over 700 years of history and towers high above the valley, offers the ideal setting for a medieval spectacle lasting several days with its spacious courtyard and surrounding meadows.
The four-day programme offers a packed schedule of events: show fights on foot and on horseback, a craft market with blacksmiths, potters, weavers and herbalists, equestrian displays and falconry, as well as a large fire show in the evening. Medieval music will be played on stages and in the tavern tents. Historical groups from all over Austria and neighbouring countries will demonstrate their camp life and provide insights into everyday culture in the Middle Ages.
Opening hours: Thursday 12:00–22:00, Friday to Sunday 10:00–22:00. Admission at the box office.
