About Ottenstein Castle Charity Medieval Festival
Charity Medieval Festival at the picturesque reservoir in the Waldviertel
On 1 and 2 August 2026, Ottenstein Castle, situated on the idyllic reservoir of the same name in the Waldviertel region of Lower Austria, will open its doors for the 4th Charity Medieval Festival. The castle, whose origins date back to the 12th century, is situated in the midst of a wooded high plateau overlooking the Ottenstein Reservoir and offers one of the most picturesque settings for a medieval festival in the whole of Austria.
The charity festival combines medieval entertainment with social commitment: a portion of the proceeds goes to a charitable cause. The programme features medieval traders and craftspeople, juggling and fire-eating shows, historical music and performances, as well as a communal atmosphere. A particular highlight is the boat trip on the Ottenstein Reservoir, which offers visitors an unforgettable view of the castle from the water.
