Medieval Market on Murg Island, Gernsbach 2026 – Market bustle in the Murg Valley
From 1 to 3 May 2026, the idyllic Murg Island in Gernsbach, Baden-Württemberg, will be transformed into a medieval market square. Surrounded by the waters of the Murg and the wooded hills of the Black Forest, the island offers a picturesque backdrop.
Murg Island – the Middle Ages on the river island
Murg Island lies in the heart of Gernsbach, encircled by the River Murg, and forms a natural stage for the market festivities. The historic half-timbered old town of Gernsbach in the Murg Valley provides an atmospheric setting for the experience.
Programme and attractions
On the river island, craftsmen and traders showcase their skills and wares. Re-enactments, juggling, medieval music and fire shows provide entertainment. Children can try their hand at archery and crafts. The stalls tempt visitors with mead, tarte flambée and freshly grilled specialities.
Opening hours and admission
The Medieval Market is open on Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Admission: Friday family day ticket €15. Sat/Sun: Adults €7, Concessions/Costumed visitors €5. Toddlers free.
