The Peter and Paul Festival in Bretten 2026 – One of the largest historical town festivals in southern Germany
From 3 to 6 July 2026, Bretten in Baden-Württemberg will celebrate its traditional St Peter and St Paul Festival. The town centre of Bretten will be transformed into a historical setting – one of the largest old town festivals in southern Germany.
Bretten – Melanchthon’s Town
Bretten is the birthplace of the Reformer Philipp Melanchthon. The Peter and Paul Festival commemorates the siege of the town in 1504 and is one of Germany’s most traditional historical town festivals.
Programme and attractions
The festival offers a packed programme: historical parades, siege re-enactments, a medieval market, music, theatre and dance. Thousands of Bretten residents in historical costume bring the old town to life. There are also craft stalls, culinary delights and a children’s programme.
