Angelbachtal Spectacle – Two days of the Middle Ages in the castle grounds
On 8 and 9 August, Eichtersheim Castle Park in Angelbachtal will open its gates for a grand medieval spectacle. Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 to 22:00 (Sunday until 22:00) – plenty of time for an immersive spectacle experience.
Eichtersheim Castle Park is one of those elegant historic parks in Baden-Württemberg, surrounded by mature trees and with enough space for several hundred visitors. The village of Angelbachtal itself is picturesquely situated in the Kraichgau region, not far from Heidelberg and Heilbronn. Anyone planning a weekend trip can combine culture with the enjoyment of nature.
The Spektakulum attracts visitors with a classic medieval programme: a jousting tournament with real horse-mounted combat, a medieval market featuring arts and crafts (leather, jewellery, weapons), live music and juggling, magicians and performers. The mix is tried and tested – entertainment is a top priority here, without ever seeming frivolous.
The audience sits or stands in stands and viewing areas around a centrally located arena. The show starts at regular intervals and has fixed show times, making it easy to plan a visit. Between the battles, the grounds are enlivened by music and smaller performances.
Admission prices: Adults €15, children (aged 6–16 and with a student card) €8, disabled visitors with a valid card (80% disability or more) and students with a valid card €12. This pricing structure is fair and family-friendly. Free for under-6s.
Opening hours: Saturday–Sunday 11am–10pm (Sunday until 7pm) – the long evening hours also allow for an atmospheric fire ceremony or night-time show, should these be planned.
Food: Classic medieval dishes at several stalls; vegetarian options are increasingly standard.
How to get there: Angelbachtal is located in Baden-Württemberg, about 20 km north of Heidelberg. A car is recommended; parking is available.
