25th Medieval Market at Kirkel Castle 2026 – Silver Jubilee in Saarland
On 16 and 17 May 2026, the Medieval Market at Kirkel Castle in Saarland will celebrate its 25th anniversary. A quarter of a century of medieval market activity at the castle ruins in Kirkel – that calls for a proper celebration!
Kirkel Castle – ruins above the Bliesgau
Kirkel Castle on Schlossbergstrasse towers above the village of Kirkel in the UNESCO Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve. The castle ruins with their striking walls and towers provide a picturesque backdrop for the traditional medieval market.
Programme and attractions
A particularly varied programme awaits visitors to the anniversary celebrations: knight shows, craft demonstrations, medieval music and juggling. Handcrafted goods, jewellery and regional specialities will be on offer at the market stalls.
Opening hours and admission
The medieval market is open on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission: Adults €5, concessions €3.
