About Olsokdagene på Stiklestad - St Olav's Festival
Olsokdagene at Stiklestad – St. Olav’s Festival
The Olsokdagene Festival will take place from 28 July to 3 August 2026 at Stiklestad (Stiklestad allé 350, postcode 7656) in Verdal (Trøndelag, Norway). Stiklestad is a historical and religious centre featuring a battlefield dating from 1030 AD, where King Olav II died – an event marking the beginning of Christian Scandinavia.
The name “Olsokdagene” means “Olav’s Days” (St Olav’s Festival). The event celebrates Olav’s legacy and his significance for Norwegian history and identity. The six-day format is one of the longer medieval events in Scandinavia and allows for an extensive programme featuring a variety of activities.
Stiklestad is both a place of pilgrimage and a historical site. The festival combines religious, historical and cultural dimensions. Late July/early August is the ideal time for Scandinavian outdoor events, with long hours of daylight. The event attracts national and international visitors and helps raise awareness of Norwegian medieval history.
