About Hamar Middelalderfestival
Hamar Medieval Festival
The Hamar Medieval Festival will take place from 12 to 14 June 2026 at Domkirkeodden (Strandvegen 100, postcode 2315) in Hamar. Hamar is a historic town on the eastern shore of Lake Mjøsa in the Innlandet region. Domkirkeodden is a cultural centre featuring museums, cafés and outdoor spaces – ideal for events.
Hamar has a rich medieval history with a tradition as a bishopric. The festival draws on this historical context for thematically coherent programming. The Domkirkeodden site offers both sheltered and open-air event spaces and is ideal for use during the summer months.
June is the height of summer in Norway with very long days – ideal for outdoor events with extended evening hours. The three-day weekend format allows for both day visits and stays of several days. The event contributes to Hamar’s appeal as a tourist destination and promotes awareness of local medieval history. Information is available via the official Norwegian website.
