The Midgardsblot Festival will take place from 12 to 15 August 2026 at the Midgard Vikingsenter (Birkelyveien 9, postcode 3184) in Horten. Horten is situated on the west coast of the Oslofjord in the Vestfold region. The Midgard Vikingsenter is a specialist Viking museum and centre with extensive outdoor areas.
The festival is one of the larger Viking events in Scandinavia. The name Midgardsblot refers to mythological vocabulary (Midgard from Norse mythology, blót = sacrifice/festival). The festival incorporates re-enactments, craft demonstrations and fairy-tale-like mythological performances.
August is the peak tourist season in Scandinavia, with pleasant weather conditions. The four-day duration allows for an immersive visitor experience and multiple visits to the same programme.
