Plattenburg Spectacle 2026 – Medieval Festival at Northern Germany’s Oldest Moated Castle
On 20 and 21 June 2026, the Plattenburg Spectacle will take place at Plattenburg Castle in Plattenburg, Brandenburg (Prignitz district). Northern Germany’s oldest surviving moated castle, located at Auf der Burg 1, will be transformed into a medieval festival site.
Plattenburg Castle – Northern Germany’s oldest moated castle
Plattenburg Castle was built in the 12th century as a bishop’s castle and is considered the oldest surviving moated castle in northern Germany. Surrounded by moats and ancient trees, the castle exudes a special atmosphere.
Programme and attractions
The Plattenburg Spectacle features jousting tournaments, medieval music, juggling and craft demonstrations. Historical goods and culinary delicacies are on offer at the market stalls. There are hands-on activities for children.
