About Vlaendria - Medieval Fair

Vlaendria – Medieval Fair

On 14–15 March, Wieze in East Flanders will host the Vlaendria Medieval Fair in the Oktoberhallen. This event focuses on the commercial aspects of medieval life, with an emphasis on authentic goods, crafts and economic structures.

A fair, unlike a festival, concentrates specifically on transactions and trade. This festival embodies this concept through hundreds of participants from various countries offering medieval-style goods and services. It is a fusion of commercial interest and historical authenticity.

The Oktoberhallen in Wieze provide a large space in which medieval trade can be showcased. Many visitors come here to actually purchase goods – from reproduction crafts to authentic food and clothing. This distinguishes the fair from purely educational festivals.

Participants at the Vlaendria Fair are often members of international networks of medieval craftspeople and traders. This means that high-quality goods are on offer, with great attention to historical accuracy.

For an entrance fee of twenty euros, visitors can wander around the various stalls for hours. The event attracts many enthusiasts who not only want to learn about medieval life, but also want to enjoy its physical aspects – goods, clothing and food.
