Eppelein Festival Burgthann 2026 – Open-air theatre at the castle
From 10 to 26 July 2026, the Eppelein Festival will take place at Burgthann Castle in Burgthann, Bavaria. At Burgstrasse 1 in 90559 Burgthann, the story of the notorious robber baron Eppelein von Gailingen will be performed as open-air theatre.
Burgthann Castle
Burgthann Castle is located south-east of Nuremberg and its inner courtyard provides an atmospheric open-air stage. The castle is closely linked to the legend of Eppelein, who received his legendary death sentence here.
Programme
The Eppelein Festival is a historical open-air theatre that brings the adventurous story of the Franconian robber baron to the stage. Performances take place on selected evenings – Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m., Sundays from 5 p.m.
