About Knights and dragons spectacle Kranichfeld

Knights and Dragons Spectacle Kranichfeld 2026 – Fangdorn and the Knights Return to Niederburg

At Easter, Niederburg Castle in the twin-castle town of Kranichfeld in Thuringia will be the setting for a fantastic knights and dragons spectacle. From 4 to 6 April 2026, the event organised by the Torgau-based company Suendenfrei will transport guests of all ages into a world full of knights, elves and a fire-breathing dragon.

Fangdorn – the star of the show

The almost life-size dragon Fangdorn is the undisputed crowd favourite. At almost four metres high and twelve metres long, he doesn't fit in a tram, as the organisers point out with a wink. His blood-curdling roar and fire-breathing skills make him the star of the performances around the elves' treasure, which take place three times a day on the open-air stage.

Tournaments and entertainment

At the Niederburg's Planhof, groups of knights compete in sword fights and tournaments – daily at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. A falconry flight show thrills visitors daily at 3 p.m., and on Saturday evenings, a spectacular fire riding show gives you goosebumps. In between, jugglers such as Schabernackkrakeel and the witch Roxana perform between tables and benches.

Opening hours and admission

Open: Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday until 7 p.m. Admission: £15 adults, £9.50 costumed visitors, £35 family ticket (2 adults + all children), £20 mini family ticket (1 adult + all children).
