Fantastic Magic Village Schloss Glücksburg Römhild 2026 – Magic and the Middle Ages in Thuringia
When dragons, wizards and mystical creatures roam the courtyards of a 500-year-old castle at the end of March, it means that the Fantastic Magic Village at Glücksburg Castle in Römhild has opened its gates. On 28 and 29 March 2026, the impressive castle complex in Römhild, Thuringia, will be transformed into a fantastic spectacle for the whole family.
A fairytale venue
Glücksburg Castle is one of the largest Renaissance country castles in Thuringia. Built in 1465 in the late Gothic style with two inner courtyards, it once served as the residence of the Counts of Henneberg and Duke Heinrich of Saxony-Römhild. Today, the historic backdrop with its defiant walls and extensive castle grounds provides the perfect stage for a weekend full of magic and adventure.
Programme and attractions
The magic village combines fantasy and the Middle Ages to create a unique experience. Visitors can look forward to dragon walks, magic shows, medieval market bustle and mystical performances. Traders and craftsmen offer their wares for sale, while jugglers and minstrels provide entertainment. The site offers attractions for young and old alike – from hands-on activities to atmospheric live music.
Opening hours and admission
The Magic Village is open on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is £7 for adults and £5 for children over 1 metre tall. Children under one metre tall are admitted free of charge. Families with two adults and two children pay £16.

Glücksburg Castle is located right in the centre of Römhild at Griebelstraße 28, 98631 Römhild. Situated in southern Thuringia, in the Grabfeld region between the Rhön and Thuringian Forest, the castle is easily accessible and offers free parking nearby.
