Black Stewart tartan 8 yard Scottish kilt
The kilt is a traditional garment from Scotland, usually worn by men. It is knee length, pleated and originated in the Scottish Highlands. Similar to the wrap skirt, the kilt has an apron in the front and pleats in the back. Kilts come in various tartan patterns that symbolize Scottish culture.
Tartan is a fabric weaving pattern that has also been used since 1815 to show membership in a Scottish clan. During weaving, the typical check pattern is created by using different colored threads. Nowadays, tartans are mainly used for the kilt, plaids and other traditional Scottish garments. The Black Stewart tartan is a traditional Scottish pattern (tartan) closely associated with the Clan Stewart. It is characterized by a black ground color with white and red stripes. This tartan pattern was supposedly worn by the Stewarts during their battles and is also associated with mourning. Many variations of the Stewart tartan exist, but the Black Stewart tartan is one of the most famous.
Our offered kilt, 8 yard kilt, Black Stewart tartan is a replica of the traditional Scottish kilts. It has yellow and blue threads incorporated in addition to the classic colors (black, red and white). The Scottish skirt is wrapped around the waist and adjusted individually by three buckles with leather straps to ensure a good fit. In addition, the kilt has generous pleats on the back and fringes as a finish on the sides. Inside the tartan skirt is a strip of fabric along the sewn around waistband for an even more comfortable feel.
