Leather horn holder black for drinking horn, embossed dragon, Jelling style, various sizes
Jelling is a town in Denmark. It is located in the Jutland region and is the site of important archaeological finds. Among them are the two large burial mounds, which were once burial places for Danish kings and also the Jelling stones. The large stone bears an inscription that roughly says: "King Harald commanded that this stone be made in memory of Gorm, his father, and Thyra, his mother. The Harald to whom all Denmark and Norway submitted and made the Danes Christians." The stone that tells of the Christianization of Denmark by Harald Blauzahn is also known as the "Baptismal Stone" of Denmark.
This horn holder is made of thick, vegetable tanned buffalo leather (grain leather). It has a light color finish for a used look and polished surfaces and edges. The circumference of the holder can be customized to fit the horn with a lacing on the back. The embossed Jelling-style dragon motif originates from a silver cup made by the 10th century Danish King Gorm.
ONLY the holder is sold here - the other items are sold separately.
