Master Hunter®, hunting knife with VG-1 San Mai®steel blade

Without a doubt, the Master Hunter® is one of the best hunting knives Cold Steel® has ever produced. The knife is available with a blade made of Japanese San Mai®steel or American CPM 3V carbon steel. On both models, the wide blade has been flat ground to provide the ideal cross-section and blade geometry for hunting applications. It has also been ground to razor sharpness, making cutting effortless. The drop-point tip is ideal for skinning and gutting hunted game. The 5mm thick blade spine provides the strength and bending rigidity needed to gut and skin even the largest animals.

The handle allows for extended, fatigue-free use. It is made of impact-resistant, highly tactile Kray ex™ and features a deeply ridged surface that will prevent any slippage, no matter how wet or bloody your hands may be. An added benefit of this material is its durability: it won't rot, shrink, crack, chip, or mildew, and is completely impervious to the most adverse weather conditions - while always remaining comfortable, even during extended use.

For optimum protection, a strong Secure Ex®sheath fits almost any belt, allowing you to carry the knife effortlessly all day.

The VG-1 San Mai® is an expertly crafted three-layer stainless steel. A hard carbon steel is sandwiched between flexible low carbon steel. This ensures maximum edge retention with great resistance to lateral and impact stress. This steel is produced in Japan only in extremely small quantities and is used by Cold Steel® for the most exclusive and valuable fixed blades.
